Driscoll Auction is set for July 5th! Lavaca County 4-H will once again be involved in conducting a benefit auction for Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi. This auction, as in the past, will take place at the Hallettsville Livestock Commission Company on Tuesday, July 5th. This is an opportunity for 4-Hers to join with area ranchers and agribusinesses to support the hospital. There will be a Food Handler's Certification Course taught from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27. All employees working in retail and institutional food establishments must have the certification within thirty days of hire. The class will be taught in the Conference Room of the Texas AgriLife Extension Office at 300 S. LaGrange Street in Hallettsville. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. The class is $20. Lavaca County 4-H Shooting Sports will hold orientation and an organizational meeting on Tuesday, August 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Appelt's Hill Gun Club near Hallettsville, 4071 County Road 204, for all youth 3rd through 12th grade or 9 years old interested in its fall session. Small-bore rifle and shotgun will be offered, instructed by 4-H certified instructors.
